家政学部生活科学科生活科学専攻では、和裁を基礎から学び、専門高校にも対応できる家庭科教員の養成を行っています。2年生で甚平・浴衣を製作し、3年生で一つ身と伝統衣装の共同製作をしています。製作と着装を通して日本の伝統文化を継承させたいと考えています。平成29年度「十二単」、平成30年度「束帯」、令和元年度「采女」を共同製作しました。第２段として「十二単」の着装を英語版にしてみました。ご活用いただけると嬉しいです。（児玉）

１　小袖を着て、細帯を巻きます。
Put on the kosode and wrap the thin obi around your body at the waist. A kosode is an undergarment for the upper part of the body with small sleeve openings.

２　長袴をはきます。袴の輪を左、右明きにして、右足から踏み込みます。袴の紐は右側で縦片鉤結びにします。
Put on a long hakama. Make the closed side of the hakama to the left and the opened side to the right. Put it on from the right foot. To tie the hakama strings use a one-sided ring knot on the right side.

３　単（ひとえ）を着ます。装束紐（白）で装束結び（衣紋結び）にします。
Put on the unlined kimono. Tie a string (white) in a bow. (Emonmusubi)

４　五衣（いつぎぬ）の第一衣を着ます。右袖から左袖と通し、裾を整えてから衿と裾を整えます。装束紐（赤）で装束結びをして、単に結ばれていた装束紐（白）を解き放ちます。
Wear five layers of uchigi. Put on the right sleeve first, and then the left sleeve. After the hem has been adjusted, the collar should be adjusted. Tie a string (red) in a bow. At the waist untie the string (white) that tied the unlined kimono.
uchigi... a square wide-sleeved garment that is layered under the outside kimono.


５　五衣の第二衣を着ます。右袖から左袖と通し、裾を整えてから衿と裾を整えます。装束紐（白）で装束結びをして、単に結ばれていた装束紐（赤）を解き放ちます。
Put on the second uchigi. The same as the last time, first pass your arm through the right sleeve, then the left sleeve. After the hem has been adjusted, the collar should be adjusted. Tie a string (white) in a bow. At the waist untie the string (red) that tied the first uchigi.

６　五衣の第三衣を着ます。右袖から左袖と通し、裾を整えてから衿と裾を整えます。装束紐（赤）で装束結びをして、単に結ばれていた装束紐（白）を解き放ちます。赤と白の紐を交互に結ぶとき、紐一幅分だけ位置をずらしています。
Put on the third uchigi. Repeat again. Pass your arm through the right sleeve, then the left sleeve. After the hem has been adjusted, the collar should be adjusted. Tie a string (red) in a bow at the waist. Untie the string (white) that tied the second uchigi. When you tie the red and white strings alternatively, shift the position of the string by the width of the string.

７　表着（うわぎ）を着ます。一枚ずつ衣の衿を交叉して作る衿を「てんてまえ」といいます。五衣に結ばれていた紐（赤）を解き放ちここで「一つ衿」につくり変えます。てんてまえ」の衿を一枚ずつ別々にして上前、下前ともに単衣から表着までを一つに襲、一度で両前を交叉して衿を合わせ、装束紐で結びます。
Put on the uwagi. The collar made by crossing one piece of clothing one on one, it called "tentemae". Untie the string (red) that tied the third uchigi. Change it into one collar. Wrap the lower collar with the collar of the upper kimono and make it look like one. The collar of "tentemae", separated one by one, piles up from the unlined kimono to the uwagi in both the front and the lower front. A uwagi is a uchigi worn on the top of many uchigi.


８　唐衣（からぎぬ）を着ます。
Put on the karaginu.A karaginu is a short kimono that is only worn on the upper body.

９　衣の上に裳の小腰を結びます。
Put "mo" around one's waist and tie the "kogoshi" A mo is a cloth that hangs from the back of one's waist and is pulled in by kogoshi which are strings coming out from the left and right of the mo.

10　檜扇を持って完成です。
Juni-Hitoe is complete when you have a hiogi.A hiogi is a fan made of wood that was used in the imperial court many years ago.
